Peckt has no server and no account. Your meals, photos and goals stay on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud database that the developer cannot read. Your height, weight, year of birth and sex do not sync at all, they stay on the one device. Nothing is sold, shared or used for advertising.
Peckt is an iPhone application developed and published by Oleh Smirnov, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom (“Peckt”, “we”, “I”). For questions about this policy, or to exercise any right described in it, write to support@peckt.app. Under the UK GDPR, and the EU GDPR where it applies, that person is the data controller. A postal address and telephone number are published on the support page.
Everything you enter or generate in Peckt is stored locally: logged meals and their macros, your goal, activity level, calorie budget, your height, weight, year of birth and sex, units, and app settings. If iCloud is enabled on your iPhone, your meals, goals and settings sync to your private CloudKit database. Your height, weight, year of birth and sex are deliberately excluded from that sync and never leave the iPhone you entered them on, so they are not copied to iCloud even when everything else is. That database belongs to your Apple Account. It is not visible to the developer and there is no administrative access to it.
When you photograph a meal, the image is held in memory on your iPhone, analysed by a model running on the device, and then discarded. It is not uploaded and it is not used to train anything. If you turn on “Keep the photo”, which is off by default, a small copy of the image is saved with the meal and syncs with the rest of your data through your own iCloud, where only you can see it. You can delete it at any time by deleting the meal.
Peckt does not ask for an account, name, email address or phone number. It contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, does not use the advertising identifier, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell or share personal data with anyone.
After installation, Peckt downloads its barcode and packaged-food database from Apple's servers, as an Apple-hosted asset pack delivered through iOS. The download carries no personal data. Recognising food and searching the database then work without a connection.
If you join the beta through TestFlight, Apple shares with the developer the crash reports from your device and any feedback you choose to send, including screenshots and the email address attached to that feedback. They are used only to fix problems in Peckt. TestFlight itself is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
If you grant permission, Peckt can write the energy, protein, carbohydrate and fat of your logged meals to Apple Health, and read your height, weight, date of birth and biological sex from it to calculate your calorie budget. Health data is never transmitted off the device by Peckt and is never used for advertising or shared with third parties, as Apple requires. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app.
Any subscription is bought and billed through Apple. Apple processes the payment and holds the transaction record. Peckt checks subscription status on your iPhone, using the signed transaction information that Apple provides to the app. There is no Peckt server and none of this information reaches the developer. Card details never reach the developer. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
If you give an email address on this website, it is used to send occasional news about Peckt: new features and notable releases. Nothing more often than that, and nothing else. The address is stored by the developer on Google Cloud (Firestore), in Google's eur3 Europe multi-region. Emails are sent through Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., United States), which receives the address only to deliver those messages and processes it in the United States under its data processing agreement, relying on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and on standard contractual clauses. The address is not shared with anyone else, sold or used for any other purpose. Reply to any message, or write to support@peckt.app, to unsubscribe at any time.
peckt.app is hosted by Google (Firebase Hosting). It sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The site uses GoatCounter for aggregate, cookieless visit statistics; it stores no personal data and sets no cookies. Google keeps standard hosting request logs per its defaults.
Where data-protection law gives you rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction or objection, they apply to any personal data held. In practice the developer holds almost none: app data is in your possession and in your own iCloud, so you exercise those rights directly by editing or deleting it in the app. To remove the iCloud copy, delete Peckt's data in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage. Deleting the app removes the local copy. For the mailing list, write to support@peckt.app. You may also complain to your supervisory authority, in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office. In the EU, your national authority.
Peckt is not directed at children and is rated 9+ on the App Store. No data is knowingly collected from children.
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
